This gentle style yoga class combines the strengthening and meditative elements of traditional yoga with the added benefits of increasing the spiritual and emotional bond you have with your baby or toddler. In this 5 week series, we will work on balance, core strength, muscular endurance and meditation. All poses can be modified if you wish to wear your baby in a soft structure carrier or wrap. Working through a series will allow you to see your progress and feel the change.
** It is important to note that this class is primarily focused on yoga for moms/caregivers—the emphasis is not on the baby or child. Parents or care-givers are welcome to attend with their little ones up to 3 years old, but it is important to know that the class is focused on yoga for adults.
Yoga found Lucia a decade ago, at a time of great change and personal transformation. The mat offered a quiet space for reflection and the opportunity to challenge body and mind in a safe, playful way.
Following a successful career in the corporate world, Lucia traded in her business suits for stretchy pants and established a personal training, group fitness and lifestyle wellness company, Sprout Athletics. In 2014, Lucia completed her 200hr yoga teacher training to share her passion and round out her offering.
As a personal trainer, Lucia brings a passion for anatomy, love for alignment and the desire to share the joy of movement to her classes. She is drawn to the physical, but recognizes that yoga soothes the soul as much as it does the body.
When Lucia isn't sweating or stretching, you'll likely find her adventuring with her husband, Paulo, and their two little girls. Whether exploring the jungles of Costa Rica, hiking the trails of North Vancouver, or reading a book in her own backyard, no adventure is too big or small.
Lucia feels incredibly fortunate to do work she loves, and looks forward to sharing the gift of yoga with the Bowen community.
